Crater Lake is the heart of Crater Lake National Park which is located in south-central Oregon. It is the volcanic wonder of the world and has it’s quite unique history.

It was formed when an enormous explosion occurred and  Mt. Mazama collapsed and created a volcanic crater. Over the years, this crater filled with rainwater and formed Crater Lake. It is the deepest lake in North America and 9th deepest lake on earth.

There are two smaller island inside this lake, Wizard Island, erupted after the lake began to fill with water and Phantom Ship, eruption still unknown. It can be magma rising up during volcanic eruption or it was a part of rock formation during collapse of Mt. Mazama. Just guessing 🙂

The view and color of water changes throughout the day because of  light and its direction. We drove the entire rim and stopped at many places to see gorgeous views and also took wonderful pics. Around each corner is a stunning view. You cannot imagine the color of water. It is rare to see incredibly clear blue water and this is the place to experience all of it.
